Sewer system is part of climate crisis in NYC

Knowing this, the NYC sewer system has never been upgraded for the last 100 years.

The NYC Mayor's office stated almost 1,000 calls came in from locals within 2 hours of yesterday's flood during rainfall in the city. Most of the calls were from Brooklyn, Queens followed by the Bronx.

According to the NYC Dept of Environmental Protection, the city's sewer lines are not capable of more than 1.75 inches of rain per hour and must be replaced as part of the climate crisis agenda which can cost taxpayers billions and billions. Yesterday was 4 inches per hour.

According to the NYC Council office, the estimate to upgrade around 150,000 drains from clogging with leaves and other debris will cost around $13 billion dollars which is not enough from taxpayers. There are more costs involved under climate control from housing, roads and shelter in place needed for the homeless.

The major one in need of more funding is MTA where water poured down into subways at selected locations which may be around $30 billion.

Despite raising sewer charges from the water bill from residents and businesses, the city says the administration costs alone is around $10 billion per year which is far less than the MTA.

There were two deaths reported from flooding in the basements in Brooklyn and Manhattan.

NYC has 325,000 workers under a $115 billion budget which is not enough despite being the largest city nationwide with the most in terms of both.

In reality the government is careless.
