Scammers targeting ConEd customers for deposit for smart meters

ConEd released a statement on Friday advising all customers there will be no deposit or any forms of payments for new smart meters.

Also, there is no charge of any kind from installation to routine check. Scammers are now targeting residents claim they owe a deposit for smart meter and ask to make payment by bitcoin or gift card.

If they don't, their power will be shut down immediately. ConEd is advising all to call 911 and report such scams.
