Same spot with cold case reported new one in Flushing

The NYPD reported a cyclist was struck by a vehicle and died in Flushing. The incident was reported this morning around 10am on Sanford Avenue near 159 Street. The medical examiner transported the body to conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death. Police didn't disclose if the driver remained on the scene or took off since a witness pointed to an F-150 vehicle. The driver was found nearby and EMS treated for shock.

This is the same spot where a pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle over 20 years ago when the community gathered with protests demanding safety measures. Back then the NYC Dept of Transportation added a yellow vehicle as a sign to slow down and has been removed a long time back. The case has never been solved and remains cold.

Will it be placed back again? Only the NYC Dept of Transportation will say.

The investigation continues.
