SSP eastbound opening up after fatality in Valley Stream

The NCPD reported all lanes are now opening up on the Southern State Parkway eastbound after a pedestrian was struck and later died at the hospital. This is in the vicinity of Exit 13N, North Central Avenue in Valley Stream, Nassau County. The incident occurred around 2pm this afternoon.

It is unclear how the pedestrian was on the parkway.

Also, yesterday in Freeport, a vehicle accident around 11pm resulted in one dead in the vicinity of Atlantic Avenue.

Both incidents remain under investigation.
