Robbery at the Roosevelt Field Mall in Garden City

Third Squad Detectives report the arrest two men for a Robbery that occurred on Thursday, May 27 2021 at 8:16 p.m. in East Garden City. According to Detectives, two men while shopping at Macys of 630 Old Country Road, attempted to steal $4,663.00 worth of merchandise. As the two men passed all points of purchase and approached the exit they were met by the victim who was acting in his capacity as an Asset Protection Detective for Macys. One of the men, once confronted for his crime, punched the victim with a closed in the left side of the face causing substantial pain, swelling, and bruising of the victims face. The defendants then attempted to flee the scene. The defendants were located by Police Officers before they were able to get away. William G. Erdogan, 30, of Franklin Square and Johnathan Calandra, 23 Port Jefferson Station were both arrested without further incident. Each defendant is charged with two counts of Robbery in the 2nd degree, and Grand Larceny in the 3rd degree. They will be arraigned on Friday, May 28, 2021 in Mineola.
