Road rage arrest in East Garden City

Third Squad Detectives report the arrest of a Hempstead man for Menacing that occurred on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at 2:17 PM in East Garden City. According to detectives, a male and a female victim were traveling westbound on Zeckendorf Boulevard toward the intersection of Ring Road in their vehicle when the female operator was cut off by another vehicle, prompting her to use her horn. At this point, a different vehicle, a white Ford F-150 pickup truck operated by an unknown male Indian, initiated a series of aggressive actions, repeatedly cutting the victim off until he stopped the victim’s vehicle at an angle, fearing she would be run off the road. While stopped, Waqar Ahmed, 27, of 17 Burston Avenue, pointed what the victims believed to be a firearm in their direction, placing them in fear for their lives. The victims called 911 and the defendant was located and placed into custody a short time later without further incident. Defendant Waqar Ahmed is charged with menacing 2nd degree, Circumvent Interlocking Device, and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 2nd degree. He was released on desk appearance ticket.
