Richford man arrested on child sexual exploitation charges

On May 29, 2026, at approximately 12:27 p.m., the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation arrested Omar Vargas-Herrera, 44 of Richford, following an investigation into a CyberTip received from the National Center of Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) and the Albany Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC).

New York State Police and the Troop C Computer Crimes Unit executed a search warrant and subsequently arrested Vargas-Herrera.

Vargas-Herrera was charged with:

One count of Promote a Sexual Performance by a Child Less than 17 years of age, a class “D” felony

Three counts of Possessing a Sexual Performance by Child less than 16 years of age, a class “E” felony

From NYSP
