Queens NY pedestrian injured in crash on 30th ave

An injury pedestrian crash occurred on Thursday afternoon in Astoria, Queens. The incident, reported by the New York Police Department (NYPD), took place at approximately 2:55 p.m. at the intersection of 30th Ave and 13th St.

According to the NYPD, a car hit a pedestrian who was attempting to cross 30th Ave. The vehicle, traveling westbound, did not appear to slow down in time to avoid hitting the pedestrian, who was thrown several feet from the point of impact. The driver of the car remained at the scene and was cooperative with authorities.

Emergency medical responders from the FDNY arrived shortly after the incident and rushed the injured pedestrian to a nearby hospital for treatment. The identity of the pedestrian, a male in his 40s, has not been released pending family notification. Authorities have not reported any charges against the driver at this time, though the investigation is ongoing.

The FDNY also assisted in managing the scene and clearing any debris from the roadway. Police diverted traffic around the area while investigators documented the scene. The incident temporarily slowed traffic on 30th Ave, a major thoroughfare in the neighborhood, but normal conditions were restored by late afternoon.
