Pursuits limited to most serious and dangerous crimes in NYC

As of this week for the start of the year, northeast Queens from Glen Oaks, Bellerose, Floral Park, Little Neck, Douglaston to Bayside reported 114 incidents related to property thefts including burglaries.

The NYPD reported all the incidents involving suspects using vehicles to get away afterwards. This came after the NYPD Commissioner announced that it updated its pursuit policy to limit it to only the most serious and dangerous crimes. If no humans are hurt then no pursuits but properties can be replaced and insurance will take care of it.

For Queens, the leading road of pursuit is the Belt Parkway followed by Cross Island Parkway north to the Bronx.

With highways around the vicinity from the northeast Queens with the Grand Central Parkway, the LIE, Cross Island, locals are advised to stay alert.
