Pursuit made one nasty mess in Astoria

On Northern Blvd westbound, police tracked a vehicle for traffic violation. The driver refused to pull over the vehicle and a pursuit started. The vehicle was seen heading on Steinway Street and then 31st Avenue. Another police vehicle followed and tracked to Crescent Street where a pedestrian was struck. The suspect took off and was headed to Hoyt Avenue where the vehicle was stopped. Police apprehended the suspect at the intersection of 21st Street.

EMS transported the pedestrian to a local hospital now in critical condition.

ESU is working on the scenes involved.
