Public park in Glen Oaks closed over the weekend angering local residents

Over the weekend of January 27 and 28, the public park, Oval was closed in Glen Oaks at 260th Street and 75th Avenue angering local residents when they noticed padlocks and chains all around entrances. At the same time, students from QHST who plays in the varsity living in the area called 311 reporting of the reason why the public park was closed along with parents. After contacting several people affiliated with Glen Oaks Little League, most ignored the requests. Two people from the little league responded by saying the actions were taken by the NYC Parks Dept and not them. One reason maybe the harsh winter while another stated due to residents driving ATVs inside the park to prevent damages. Another member of little league stated the soccer team from Our Lady of Snows were using it and maybe they locked it. Several parents received replies from the NYC Parks Dept and they confirmed the park was never locked but open hours are 8am to 6pm daily. After checking with residents in the area, there were no ATV's drove around the public park. To be continued.
