Protest against dispensary in Bayside

A protest is being held on Horace Harding Expressway today which started around 2:45pm in Bayside. This is against a legal cannabis dispensary that's opened where parents claim it's near a local school. This is by 245th Street within 500 feet from the local public school from kindergarten to sixth grade.

The plan was started in February 2024 after the Community Board 11 notified of the location being used as a dispensary licensed by NYS. Although the parents and other communities protested, the state's Office of Cannabis Management went ahead with the plan and approved the location.

Now parents have gathered this afternoon demanding the license be canceled due to close proximity to schools and other areas involving children..

The NYS Office of Cannabis Management has not responded.
