Primaries gearing up with more political stunts

Three states are gearing for the Democratic gubernatorial primaries and they are New Jersey, Virginia and NY.

Six candidates are vying for the NJ Governor's race when the primary is on June 10 since the current incumbent is term-limited and the seat is up for grabs.

The biggest attention grabber was Newark Mayor after arrested by Immigration Customs (ICE) made headlines nationwide.

The next one is Virginia where the current Governor is term limited. Former Rep. Abigail Spanberger, a Democrat, and Virginia Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears, a Republican, have each already locked down their parties’ nominations. Both are campaigning on similar agendas.

As for NY, the current Governor announced re-election for 2026. So far, 18 candidates are standing by waiting for the names to be announced since the current Governor's approval rating is at 39% for re-election according to Sienna Poll. 48% shows another candidate and that number needs to be over 60% to announce names officially for the safe zone.

Until then, the NYC Mayoral election is the time where three candidates will compete from each ballot line, Democratic, Independent and Republican. Several candidates running for the Democratic primary have been busy with political stunts with attention grabs but still the lead belongs to Andrew Cuomo.
