Press conference and rally on fare increase against MTA

On Sunday, January 4 at 10:30am, there will be a press conference on MTA outside the NY Governor's office.
This is the statement organized by Passengers United,
As another fare hike goes into effect, many transit riders in the city and region have been experiencing their quality of service diminishing! A sizable number of riders who were still dependent on the MetroCard have been left in limbo as they struggle to switch over to OMNY. Anger towards the MTA is growing over gaps in service, outreach, safety, and accessibility is at an all time high.
We are demanding that Governor Kathy Hochul commits to fulfilling the immediate needs of riders, which includes:
MEETING WITH PASSENGER ADVOCATES IMMEDIATELY
Fix OMNY machines readers and turnstiles which are stealing money overcharging passengers on a daily basis
Continuing to accept coin payments on local buses so seniors, people with disabilities, and those who are unbanked are not able to buy OMNY, particularly in transit deserts
Bringing back the 10 trip commuter ticket for lirr and Metro North.
Filling all of its scheduled late-night bus trips, which are currently canceled very often;
Fixing bus radios, GPS, communication issues at the Bus Command Center so that buses are more evenly spaced out along routes;
Restoring essential bus stops removed in Queens (we have an ongoing initiative regarding this and will be making an announcement to the press in the near future, so stay tuned for that);
Fulfilling its promise to designate its free-transfer routes in Queens and not just terminate the promotional third transfer policy with nothing else in return (which is a Title VI violation in and of itself);
Improving overnight subway, bus, and commuter rail service by adding a night owl city ticket for $ 3.75 ;
Thoroughly cleaning subway cars, stations, and restrooms, so riders don't have to see needles, blood, urine and feces on seats.
Improved communication during planned and emergency service disruptions
The creation of a $35 dollar City Ticket weekly for LIRR and Metro North commuters.
The event is open to the public.
