Police are searching for escaped suspect in Hempstead

A suspect escaped from police vehicle after arrest for shoplifting on Tuesday, January 16 around 3:45pm. The incident happened on Franklin Avenue in Hempstead. As of midnight, police are searching around to the borderline of Bellerose with chopper hovering above. Ongoing investigation.
