The MTA announced the fare will be $3 starting next Summer 2025.

The last increase was back in August 2023 when fares went from $2.75 to $2.90. August 1st will be enforced for all to cough up as MTA is facing loss from fare evasion which is expected to reach $1 billion dollars. That's $1,000 million dollars per year from those who don't pay fares but get away with it.

The NYC Council members who are desperate to stay in position with voters mostly fare evaders will not introduce any bills for enforcement in the future.

Also, the metrocard is phasing out in favor of OMNY.

As for cars that go to Manhattan, congestion pricing starts January 5 with $9.

The NYC government is desperate for cash to keep the city running and more price increases will be announced next year to keep up with the budget. There is also discussion of pay raise for those working in the NYC Council to live well as times are tough for them.
