Collision on the LIE with one dead in Fresh Meadows

The NYPD reported this morning around 5:30am, a driver working on a disabled vehicle on the shoulder of the Long Island Expressway was struck by a flat bed tow truck and later died.

This was westbound by the Clearview Expressway.

The medical examiner transported the body to conduct an autopsy.

The tow truck driver remained on the scene.

Westbound is now open for traffic.

Highway CIS continues to investigate the incident.
