One week to go for pay raise or strike for union workers

MTA, the most powerful agency in NY, is preparing to negotiate or strike by September 18 if a deal is not reached for a 15% pay raise for some of the the LIRR workers instead of 9.5% with a three year contract.

As of today, the union, MTA and the Governor's office are still in the discussion stage.

Based on payroll data compiled from SeeThroughNY, the average pay for its employees is almost $122,000, 21% of which is overtime, not enough to survive in NY especially Long Island or NYC.

Shuttle buses are being arranged at all LIRR locations for continued traffic if strike is definite for commuters.

Commuters will receive advance notification of the result of which shuttle buses to use in case of the strike so prepare for early time for travel.
