One long construction to make alternate route to GCP exit

January 5 to April 24, the Exit 10 for eastern Long Island from the eastbound Grand Central Parkway will be closed overnight due to construction. Also, the same on LIE eastbound at Exit 22A to Grand Central Parkway eastbound. This is part of the $115 million repair project as part of the NYS Dept of Transportation. The closure will be between midnight to 5am.
According to NYS DOT, to access the LIE eastbound during this construction, drivers should take Exit 10W westbound and follow the detour signage on the road.
Also due to new construction of affordable housing next to the local mall in Elmhurst, a new plan for exit to Queens Blvd is in the works this year. The parking lot next to Queens Blvd Exit from the LIE eastbound is set for towers before 2030 in time for balloons.
