One dead resulting LIE eastbound closed

The NCPD has closed all lanes on the Long Island Expressway eastbound by Exit 40 reporting a pedestrian was struck by a truck.

This is in Jericho, Nassau County.

A witness stated this was a single accident involving a delivery truck where the incident occurred in the middle lane.

This is the latest incident on the LIE where a pedestrian was struck and died.

ESU, firefighters and EMS are working on the scene.

The medical examiner is also working on the scene.

Heavy delays all around including westbound due to onlookers.

Highway CIS is working on the investigation.

Avoid the route as police reported LIE won't be open until late evening.

Also, Southern State Parkway eastbound in West Hempstead is also facing delays due to multiple vehicle accident with one in critical condition.
