One day crackdown on ghost plates tops over five O

The NYPD reported as part of ghost plates enforcement on Tuesday in joint operation with other law enforcement agencies resulted with 66 vehicles impounded. 25 people were arrested for unregistered while using paper plates and a total of 455 summons issued from plates covering and paint over a letter. The enforcement took place all day Tuesday on the RFK bridge, then 3rd Avenue and Willis Avenue bridges.

While the numbers won't be released until next year for the number of vehicles seized, the NYPD released them for the year 2024. Around 3,450 vehicles were seized from 60 enforcements at various locations unannounced in NYC.

Also, the NYPD say the enforcement will continue as usual this year.
