Ocean Crest closed for EDP crisis in Queens with two dead

The NYPD closed off Ocean Crest Blvd in Far Rockaways reporting a shootout between an EDP and police officers. The call came in for an EDP crisis at the unit 25/33 around 12pm this afternoon in the basement of a home. From there, the same perp started a fire inside the home's third floor resulting explosion. Then the same perp displayed a weapon while barricaded inside the home and fired rounds. This is when police officers returned fire.

Around 2pm, the fire marshal reported two dead inside the home and did not disclose if its resulted by gunshot wounds or fire. The medical examiner transported the bodies to conduct autopsies to determine the cause of death.

From a neighbor, the same perp started the fire inside the home and the dead are the parents after a domestic dispute. Another neighbor say two are dead after shotgun went off before the explosion.

Shortly, the perp, male, 33, was apprehended and EMS transported to a local hospital. No police officers were shot.

EMS reported around 20 people are injured from the explosion and working to transport all to local hospitals.

The 101 Precinct is working to issue a press statement soon.
