Not enough to live well with the stress of two continents in Jackson Heights

The NYPD and DSNY removed all tables, chairs and other items from being locked up to poles illegally at the Diversity Plaza in Jackson Heights, angering vendors without licenses over the weekend.

There were no protests or outrage from their favorite Congress member, Alexandria Ocasio Cortez whose office is across the street. The majority of the selling groups are from Bangladesh, who earn around $2,000 from taxpayer funds as part of the migrants program. According to the groups, they say at least $5,000 a month is required to live well with taxpayer funds, so one portion can be sent to their families back home in their continent.

However, they blame it on local stores who take a large cut while giving less for selling items around the area.

Most of the groups have taken up the issue with their local elected officials for support and are optimistic about their goal once the Democratic candidate, Zohran Mamdani wins the election.

The good news is that the NY Governor has increased the budget for legal services for migrants to $50 million and Mamdani wants to increase to $100 million from taxpayers if he wins.

Meanwhile, local residents and neighbors praised the removal by the NYPD to keep Diversity Plaza as a walking place for greeting and meeting, which was the original plan.
