New Jersey pair face gun charges after traffic stop on NYS Thruway in Ulster Co

On March 13, 2025, 9:53pm, Troopers from SP Tarrytown observed a black 2009 Volkswagen traveling on the New York State Thruway/I-87 northbound in the town of Plattekill in violation vehicle and traffic law.

Troopers pulled the vehicle over and the operator was identified as Ashley R. Clair, 26, and the passenger was identified as Adreon S. Clair, 26, both of Paterson, NJ. During a roadside investigation, Troopers recovered a loaded Polymer80 9mm "ghost gun" handgun in the vehicle.  Both defendants were taken into custody and  processed for criminal possession of a weapon 2nd degree (C felony) and criminal possession of a firearm (E felony).

Both suspects were held pending arraignment at Ulster County Centralized Arraignment Court.
