NYPD personnel filed for retirement

As of today, another 809 police officers filed for retirement. The same time last year, 287 filed. If the process is completed, that's almost 1,000 less cops in NYC. With no new enrollment at the police academy for the summer, recruitment is after September. Also, there are multiple rumors of Chief of Department Terence Monahan is stepping down but not confirmed. The current NYPD Commissioner will remain with the post according to the mayor's office.
Update - NYPD reported applications for retirement will be limited.
