NYC to make pedal assist bikes legal

Mayor di Blasio stated in a press release that with the Dept of Transportation, a new law will be underway to make bikes with pedal assist legal. The difference between pedal assist and e-bikes are the speed. Electric bikes that can handle over 20mph is illegal in NYC and pedal assist is the opposite. This applies for delivery workers. The goal is to double the active cyclists by 2020 in the five boroughs.
