NYC school to have Bengali as the first dual language program

Starting September 2018, PS 7 Louis F Simeone School in Elmhurst will offer half courses in English and the other half in Bengali, language of Bangladesh. This is organized by Congressmembers Grace Meng and Joe Crowley due to election time. The school will be the first to offer dual language courses with Bengali. Previous Chancellor Carmen Farina already added 25 dual language programs with additional expansion to 15 existing schools. Meng reported expansion into Hindi, Urdu and other South Asian languages are being discussed.
