NYC quietly gave out a date for all residents

Long long long questions from the confusing press statement by the Mayor on July 8.

The Mayor confuses people.

This is the summary for garbage bins.

November 12 is the day all single family homes including single family homes where owners are living will need to put garbage in a bin.

The same for all buildings up to 9 tenant units.

Yes to all including brownstone and duplexes.

Capisce?

Ok good!

Then starting June 2026, those living in single/two family homes, or other buildings with 9 or less units will need to use the Official NYC Bin for trash collection.

Now read these for 10 to 30 tenancy units,

Buildings with 10 to 30 units will be able to choose between stationary on-street containers and smaller wheelie bins.

Starting November 12, 2024, failure to use a bin that is 55 gallons or less with a secure lid for trash set out will result in fines:

$50 for the first offense.

$100 for the second offense.

$200 for the third and subsequent offenses.

Whew!

The Mayor's Press Statement was to calm all residents and go with the flow by understanding on their own with confusing words so no one complains.
