NYC is all set to open the first injection center

The NYC Mayor's Office confirmed a location has been selected in Manhattan to open the first injection center for heroin and other drugs to prevent overdoses. Over 100,000 have died nationwide due to overdose and this will be legal supervised with staff to inject to those seeking jabs without the worry of misuse.

The Mayor's Office stated this is all about love and care to those whose family members died of overdose with the option to inject. There will be other programs available from counseling to housing. The budget has not been released.

Despite the federal court ban nationwide, this is a local municipal jurisdiction and only the City Council can veto but not likely. The Mayor's Office says if lawsuits arise, then it will be in court with a decision awaiting so until then it's on.

This is the Health Commissioner,

"Provisional data from the first quarter 2021 shows 596 deaths occurred in New York City between January and March of this year.

Overdose prevention centers are a key part of broader harm reduction."

Now reporting there will be two locations, Harlem and Washington Heights.
