NY Government shows new laws for 2025

Starting January 1, the MTA announced a new enforcement with love for fare evasion. The first timer will get a warning with love. The second time the same person gets caught will be issued a $100 fine and if that's paid on time, a $50 fare card will be issued.

Despite losing $600 million in fare evasion for 2022, the number is expected to reach almost $1 billion dollars.

If paid, the record will be cleared after four years.

The congestion pricing starts this Sunday at $9 and this is expected to cover many expenses the MTA is facing from loss.

The DMV announced new points for drivers.

DWI and DUI related will be 11 points and can lead to suspension. 8 points for passing a red flash light on a school bus while dropping or picking up kids. Hit and run with injury will be 5 points.

The minimum wage is now $16.50 for NYC, Long Island and Westchester County. All other areas are $15.00 an hour.
