More cats found from the sanctuary on Long Island

Today, the Suffolk County SPCA stated a total of dead cats from the Medford fire last Monday stands at 158.

The rescue group recovered 50 cats all dead at the scene working around the clock as per latest count with another 8 from nearby yards. The SPCA say there are more than 300 cats and could be up to 400 which will take longer time to recover.

Lisa Jaeger say 148 cats are in the process of adoption which may take weeks until they are adjusted with comfort. Most are still within the fear stage. Details will be posted on Lisa's page soon when they are available. Lisa is the main coordinator working at the area who is a close friend of Happy Cat Sanctuary owner Chris who also died in the fire.

As for Chris, a private service is set this week in Nassau County by his family not open to the public. A memorial service for the public will be announced when a venue is set in the coming weeks.

As for the fire investigation, the SCPD is continuing with the operation to determine the cause.
