Monday night missing to body recovery on Long Island

The SCPD reported a swimmer in distress on Monday night around 7:45pm on Long Island. This is in the vicinity of Kings Park near Nissequogue River in Suffolk County.

Rescue operation has been conducted since then and this morning around 8am, a dead body was found of a male. The Smithtown Harbormaster confirmed the body that was missing since Monday night.

The medical examiner transported the body to conduct an autopsy.

The news comes about three weeks after Petros Krommidas, a Democrat vying for a position on the Nassau County Board of Legislators, went missing off the coast of Long Beach in late April, prompting a search party of over 100 people.

The name has not been released pending family notification.

The investigation continues.
