Mixed messages thrown at Glen Oaks Village Co op residents of gas shut off

52 families are without gas service since February 14, 2018 in the buildings 50 and 105 at Glen Oaks Village Co-op. The explanation is simple. ConEd reported gas leaks inside the two buildings. Also reported Glen Oaks Village didn't file permits with NYC Dept of Buildings (DOB) for gas dryers and washers. ConEd then notified DOB and issued violations. At the same time, court dates were given to attend at the Environmental Control Board (ECB) for hearings for documents in place and repairs done by licensed plumbers. Permits applied with DOB are not done in anyone's favors but wait in line. The process between ECB and DOB takes time to ensure proper paper works are in place along with ConEd. Glen Oaks Village has been fined heavily for the violations and their lawyers are also disputing while residents are without gas service. Glen Oaks Village's president Robert Friedrich has no influence except follow the standard procedure with patience. So in all explanation, its wait in the line with ECB, DOB and ConEd just like the rest of NYC as they cannot speed up the process unless the mayor or governor involves. Meanwhile residents without gas service are entitled to reimbursements but Friedrich refuses to comply according to families after talking to them. Residents can make complaints to the NYS Attorney General at 800-771-7755 related to coop and condo matters.
