Man with large kitchen knife shot by police in Briarwood NYPD says

NYPD officers shot and wounded a 22-year-old man Monday morning in Queens who they said came at them with a large knife and after repeated attempts to "de-escalate the situation."

It happened around 10:30 a.m. on Parsons Boulevard in Briarwood.

"This entire incident is depicted on body worn camera footage," Mcintosh said. "Officers requested EMS and rendered aid to the male, including applying a tourniquet."

Mcintosh declined to answer additional questions about how many shots were fired or the mental health history of the man, citing the ongoing investigation.

The incident is under investigation by the NYPD's Force Investigation Division.
