Male shot dead sitting inside a car in LIC

Police reported a male sitting in the passenger side has been shot dead in Long Island City. It happened around midnight on 40th Avenue and 12th Street inside a Mercury Milan. The driver who was also inside took off the vehicle driving around until flagged down a police vehicle on Vernon Blvd. EMS reported the victim died on the way to a hospital. Police stated this may be gang related. Ongoing investigation.
