MTA worker lied for slashed by someone in Jamaica

The NYPD along with MTA Police conducted the investigation of a slashing at the Jamaica-179 Street subway station last Wednesday morning reported by a worker who stated he was assaulted by a suspect.

Further investigation confirmed the worker slashed himself and made up false statements of the attack when he was never attacked. The original statement was that the worker was slashed by a homeless male after a dispute.

The Queens DA’s Office charged the worker, Henry Herring, 54 for filing a false report.

Herring is now suspended without pay. A full review will be conducted by MTA and the Queens District Attorney’s Office.
