MTA announce two for one news to all

The MTA announced today subway riders must cough up extra dime to make the fare to even $3 starting January 4, 2026. The express bus will be $7.25 from the current $7.

With no more Metrocard, the new OMNY fee will increase to $2 which is more durable and lasts for up to 5 years. The LIRR Peak CityTicket will increase from $7 to $7.25 and Off-Peak CityTicket will increase from $5 to $5.25. For vehicle drivers, all toll rates will increase 7.5% at all facilities. This includes E-ZPass and Tolls by Mail. The discounts for students, seniors, disabled and others involved will not be affected.

The next news is the MTA will deploy fare enforcement agents replacing NYPD to crack down on fare evasion costing over $750 million annually. A new technology will be deployed to verify and give a fine for not paying.

As for free buses under the new incoming Mayor, the MTA will look into it when the time comes but no guarantee so until then pay and travel.
