One fourth of Manhattan and Brooklyn have closed off parking lanes to setup permanent bike lanes. At the same time, two way roads are made one way in both boroughs. The same program is under pilot stage in Queens. It's under discussion with the community boards in various locations of Queens before deciding for final set to permanent bike lanes. The community board has the final say based on the inputs from the public for deciding. The city's goal is to connect the dots of perm bike lanes to make a single route for all to follow.
