Limited police presence during holidays start in Queens

The Mayor's Office stated more cops will be present in Manhattan and limited in Queens due to migrant and mental health crimes especially the homeless.

This came after more cops have submitted their resignations. For the month of October, 245 cops have quit the force, the highest compared to 181 last year. There are rumors circulating around 5,000 are going to turn in their badges making the force into under 30,000 from the current 35,000 plus an additional 15,000 employees at NYPD.

Coming to Queens, yesterday, the same group, Restore Roosevelt Avenue protested for more cops after crimes spiked on Roosevelt Avenue from Jackson Heights to Corona vicinity, the NYPD will not be actively patrolling as before.

Also, the group's main organizer Hiram Monserrate says more protests will continue against defund NYPD in the area as residents say increasing patrol is needed.

The main crime is turf war between gangs for control of crimes.

As of today, the incoming Mayor has not decided whether to keep the same NYPD Commissioner or not and what is the plan with the largest police force nationwide.
