Late morning fire in Astoria resulted displacement

The FDNY reported a heavy fire at a home in Astoria around 11am this late morning. This is on 42nd Street at the location 32/16.

Firefighters evacuated all residents from the attached homes. EMS reported multiple injuries including firefighters.

The fire started in the roof and extended to the neighboring homes and now the fire marshal confirmed all six homes have been damaged. As of now, it's been marked as inhabitable. The Red Cross is working to place all in shelters for now.

The fire classified as second alarm was brought under control by 1:30pm.

Local residents are advised to stay indoors due to smoke.

The cause of fire is under investigation.
