LIC checked now call Jamaica for housing

Today, NYC announced 54 blocks in Long Island City with a rezone plan to build up to 15,000 housings by the waterfront from industrial to residential. The plan also adds more commercial and light industrial development for local jobs while keeping 22 blocks for residential towers. The vicinity is 44th Drive, 45th Avenue and Vernon Blvd along with the waterfront of Gantry Plaza State Park and Queensbridge Park.

This is the same area where Amazon planned to build their second headquarters with high paying jobs where the plan was squashed by NYC Council after protests organized by local non profits from losing public benefits with the city over jobs.

This is the fifth rezone neighborhood after Long Island City, Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn, Bronx Metro North Station and Midtown South in Manhattan and Jamaica, Queens aimed to build 50,000 housing units within 15 years.

One area in Queens, the Flushing Corona redevelopment plan is not part of the city alone but the state pleasing the NY Governor.

The plan for Jamaica will be announced soon.

Many single family homes in Jamaica are now selling for a cool million.
