Keep the new info handy on shopping in NY

For the year 2026, the NY Governor announced new regulations for shopping. All food stores must accept cash and prohibits from charging extra or deposit to transfer cash onto a prepaid card.

The only way to accept cash is if any electronic device including self check out is not working. Fines are enforced to stores for not accepting cash.

As for online, all businesses including locals must notify in advance of renewal or price change with option to cancel subscriptions.

Also post rules and guidelines of refund policies, dispute resolutions and other relevant information with all disclosures open to read for all. The other one is all businesses will be required to disclose all info regardless when a price was set by an algorithm using their personal data, subject to certain exceptions.
