KEW Gardens hills man indicated for shooting two men over parking dispute

Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz announced that Alan Rodriguez was indicted for attempted murder, assault and weapon possession for allegedly shooting two men in a parking dispute outside his Kew Gardens Hills residence in November.

District Attorney Katz said: “As alleged in the indictment, the defendant shot two men over a parking dispute. This was a completely senseless act of violence, and the two victims will now carry injuries for their rest of their lives. My office is committed to removing illegal guns from our communities.”

Rodriguez, 22, of 79th Avenue in Kew Gardens Hills, was indicted by a grand jury and arraigned yesterday on a six-count indictment.

District Attorney Katz said that, according to the charges, on November 3, at approximately 8:30 p.m., Jignesh Patel, 34, and Vijay Patel, 41, and two other men were standing outside of their vehicle, a silver Toyota that was double parked on 79th Avenue in Kew Gardens Hills.

A black Acura MDX pulled up alongside the trio, driven by a male with a male and female passenger inside. Rodriguez, who was in the passenger seat and who lived on the street, exited the vehicle and began arguing with the brothers about parking.

Rodriguez pointed a 9 mm pistol at the two victims and allegedly fired multiple times with one victim struck in the foot and the other in the knee.

Investigators later found five shell casings at the scene of the incident. Both victims were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of their gunshot wounds.

The investigation was conducted by Detective Ramon Portillo of 107th Queens Detective Squad.
