Jericho robbery suspects in custody

On June 21 around 2:30am, police reported robbery in Jericho.

According to detectives, four unknown male subjects went to the driveway of a residence located in Jericho and began to search the interior of a parked car, taking multiple items. Residents inside saw the subjects at which point they fled northbound. A 49 year-old and 22 year-old male chased after them. They located the four subjects on Parkside Drive where they got into an altercation resulting in the two victims being physically assaulted. During the assault, one of the subjects fired two shots from a silver pistol that resulted in no one being struck. The subjects then fled westbound on Parkside Drive. The 49 year-old victim suffered blunt trauma to the back of the head, a broken noise and bruising to the arms and legs. The 22 year-old victim suffered a laceration to the forehead, a broken noise and bruising to the arms and legs. 2nd Precinct Police responded and both victims were transported to a nearby hospital for assessment and treatment. The investigation is ongoing.

The first subject who fired the pistol is described as a male black, 5?6?? tall with dread locks and wearing a gray tank top. Second subject is a male black, 6?0?? tall, wearing a black doo rag, black shirt and a black backpack. Third subject is a male Indian, 5?6?? tall, think build with a beard wearing a red shirt and a surgical mask. The fourth subject is a male Indian, 5?6?? tall, medium build wearing a black shirt.

Today, after a thorough investigation the following four adult males have been arrested for the above listed crime. Defendant Joel Batista, 20, of Uniondale. Defendant Will Cruz Benavides, 20, of Elmont. Defendant Kenneth Delacruz, 20, of Freeport. Defendant Justin Osorio, 18, of Freeport.

All four defendants are each charged with two counts of Attempted Murder 2nd degree. Additionally, defendant Joel Batista is charged with four counts of Robbery 1st degree, three counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree and Criminal Use of a Firearm 1st degree. Defendants Joel Batista, Will Cruz Benavides and Kenneth Delacruz were all previously arraigned in Mineola. Defendant Justin Osorio will be arraigned on Friday, October 2, 2020 in Mineola.
