It s called floating temporary lanes on Northern Blvd

The city's DOT released the temporary floating lanes taking away one lane from each direction of Northern Blvd. The same model is already made into permanent in both Manhattan and Brooklyn where vehicles are limited. For the new bike lanes on Northern Blvd, one lane is lost to bikes and another will be replaced as rush hour and parking combined. This is between 41st Avenue and Broadway if approved permanently by the city with votes from the local community board. The city is also in the planning stage for Hillside Avenue and Jamaica Avenue from 168 Street to the Nassau border. More plans are underway.
