Infrastructure bill passed with 13 Republicans voted in favor

6 Democrats voted against the bill.

On Friday night, The Infrastructure Bill passed both the Senate and House with 13 Republicans joined side. However, progressive socialist Democrats did not support the plan since Build Back Better was not included. NY is poised to receive over $100 billion from the $1.2 trillion. The main one will be the Amtrak NE Corridor with $25 billion. Bridges and roads will get $2 billion with worker salaries, administration mainly and then the renovations. The main winners are the union jobs. Both airports in Queens will get over $1 billion for upgrades.

The NY Republicans who voted in favor implied the bill needed to pass for the infrastructure in NYC. The project will cover costs for the next 20 years with union jobs and more renovations in NYC.

The bill faced obstacles in both Senate and House due to Build Back Better agenda. The main blocker Senator Joe Manchin quoted on Build Back Better, “Massively expand the welfare state, hide the true cost, and hope that more people getting ‘free’ money means more votes for Democrats. Except voters already see that money isn’t free, as they end up paying more for groceries, gas and taxes.”
