In all day of life some win some lose with ConEd

First, a huge shout out to ConEd workers for being out there doing their jobs. Second, shareholders have seen their returns excellent for the last fifty plus years.

Now comes the main issue. According to the NYS Public Service Commission, a rate hike is in the works for NY residents which was announced in February to increase the electric bill by 11.4% which will result in $1.6 billion with $190 million in profits. The gas bill proposed is 13.3% for winter time.

The reality is the Eastern US grid has excess supply but the local infrastructure is aging along with equipment that doesn't have the same capacity compared to 20 years ago.

The NY Governor is aware of these issues and a new hearing is in the works when both Assembly and Senate return to work from the long long vacation.

Until then, the bill remains unaffected despite lowering the output.

In the meantime, some places are all set to have protests organized by groups which doesn't have much impact as ConEd will raise the prices anyway.
