Hospital to go and recycle process for EDP

The Mayor's Office stated last year there were around 200,000 calls from 911 for EDP (Emotionally Disturbed Person). Police officers reach out to the scene and then alert EMS to transport to local hospitals. Then hospitals observe and follow-up on medical routines. From there, patients are released back to NYC.

Three hospitals in Queens are overloaded with EDP cases, Elmhurst, Jamaica and Northwell Health in New Hyde Park.

After being released from the New Hyde Park hospitals, local residents then call 911 for harassment, assaults, thefts, vehicle break-ins and more in the Glen Oaks vicinity. Also, residents reported of strangers knocking on doors.

This is an increasing issue in NYC and the Mayor's Office stated lack of budget is the main issue including Creedmoor.

The Governor's Office indicated the priority is migrants.

As usual residents are advised to call 911 and stay alert.
