Heuvelton male arrested for criminal obstruction of breathing

On April 1, 2025, State Police arrested Tyler J. Brothers, age 37, of Heuvelton, NY, for criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation and third-degree criminal mischief.

On April 1, 2025 at approximately 1:57 p.m., Troopers responded to East Road in the town of Depeyster for a report of a domestic dispute. The investigation revealed that Brothers and the victim had engaged in a verbal argument that escalated into a physical altercation. During the incident, Brothers took the victim’s phone and damaged it, then placed his hands around the victim's neck, restricting their ability to breathe.

Brothers was arrested and transported to SP Ogdensburg for processing. He was subsequently arraigned in the Town of Canton Court and released on his own recognizance.
