Heavy fire at a local church in Astoria

The FDNY reporting a heavy fire at the local church in Astoria. This is on 12th Street at 27-26 now reporting third alarm when the fire started around 6:45pm this evening.

EMS is checking for injuries.

The fire personnel have blocked off roads for emergency vehicles to bring the raging fire under control.

The cause of fire is under investigation.
